A Therapeutic Retreat to Manali!
"We travel not to
escape life, but for life not to escape us."
These words resonated deeply within me as I embarked on a therapeutic travel retreat wonderfully hosted by @meetmeinmanali. Seeking rejuvenation and a fresh perspective, I set out to explore this journey in 2022. Little did I know that this trip would touch me on a deeper level, nurturing mind, body, and soul.
Day 1: Embracing the Journey
The journey to Manali was encountered with unexpected twists and turns along the way. However, these challenges reminded me that the journey itself holds significance. Arriving in Manali, I witnessed the vibrant atmosphere of the mall road, strolling amidst the hustle and bustle before venturing into the peaceful lanes of Old Manali.
Reflection - Finding beauty in the journey is more important than the destination itself, and most often the destination is worth that journey.
Day 2: Serenity and Adventure
Seeking a connection with nature, we set out to explore the serene towns of Himachal Pradesh: Naggar and Sissu. Surrounded by sun-kissed forest and waterfalls, the grounding and ice breaking session helped us to connect with self as well as others. It was truly a memorable day with thrilling amalgamation of adventure, freedom and peace.
Reflection - Spontaneity has its
own beauty. Sometimes, all we need to do is take a leap of faith with courage
in our heart and curiosity in our eyes, for letting the magic happen.
Day 3: Inner Exploration and
Connection
This day was dedicated to introspection and growth. Engaging in self-work sessions and meditation, I delved deep into my inner self, gaining clarity and peace. The cooking experience with the locals fostered a sense of community, while the dapo session (with @lost.in.the.flow) and meditative mandala-making workshop (with @veronicas_ink) added layers of mindfulness to the journey.
Reflection - Let life flow like a
river, no forcing and no holding back.
Day 4: Embracing Nature and
Self-Discovery
A hike to a hidden spot by the Kharma River became a gateway to awareness and deep connection with self. Engaging with the elements of nature – water, rock, soil, wind, and trees – I discovered a sense of unity with the nature around me. Then, we set intentions for our future selves and shared heartfelt experiences.
Reflection - Embrace the entirety
of your being made up of infinite emotions, thoughts, dreams and flaws; Choose
to feel all of it, accept yourself as well as heal, evolve, grow and shine.
All in all, from the mountain
hikes to the self- work workshops and self-work activities, my journey in
Manali was an immersive experience which served as a reminder to cherish the
present, embrace the beauty of spontaneity, and nurture our connection with
ourselves, others, and the natural world. Manali became the catalyst for
rediscovering the essence of life and the endless possibilities that lie
within.
